While many are familiar with the basics of massage therapy and the benefits it carries, such as general relaxation, there are several components that are often overlooked or not taken into consideration.
Massage therapy can be used as a cornerstone for a strong wellness program and healthy lifestyle. Whether a person is recovering from a chronic injury or simply looking to take time for themselves to relax; a strong, well-organized treatment plan can have a measureable impact on one’s health and life.
Physical Benefits Include:
Improved rehabilitation after injury or surgery, reduced chronic pain, relief for tired and aching muscles, improved muscle tone, increased flexibility, lowered blood pressure, increased circulation, strengthened immune system, increased range of motion, decreased muscle deterioration, improved skin tone, reduced tension headaches, enhanced quality of sleep, increased lymph circulation, and reduced fatigue.
Psychological Benefits Include:
Decreased anxiety, stress relief, enhanced relaxation, improved concentration, and the ability to stimulate the release of endorphins in the body (feel-good emotion).
Receiving massage from a skilled therapist and adhering to a treatment program whether it be every week, two weeks, or once a month will contribute to overall well-being. Used in tandem with other health treatments, such as chiropractic care, greatly increases these benefits. Massage is a specialty service that can be enjoyed by everyone.
